Brief info

Swetha Pararajasingam is a multidisciplinary Bharathanatyam artist and choreographer with over 23 years of training in the South Indian classical dance form. Upon completing her Arangetram in 2010, Swetha had the privilege of presenting her debut solo repertoire as a professional artist in 2017, marking a significant milestone in her artistic journey. This was followed by a full-length solo performance in Chennai, India in 2020, affirming her exposure in the international classical dance circuit. Swetha has returned to her roots as an instructor at Niro Dance Creations, the very school where her own Bharatanatyam journey began, now teaching the art form to students of all ages.

Based in Toronto, Swetha has performed on esteemed stages across North America, Europe, and South Asia, with a movement style that blends the rigor of Bharathanatyam with her training in various styles such as Bollywood, Kuthu, Hip-Hop, Contemporary and Jazz. In 2024, Swetha made her professional theatre debut at Soulpepper Theatre in Toronto with Takwahiminana, expanding her artistry into the realm of theatrical performance. Her diverse body of work also includes a Guinness World Record performance for the largest online choreographed dance and various appearances in film, television, and music videos.

Swetha is a graduate of McMaster University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Life Sciences as well as completed her Master of Business Administration (MBA). During her time at McMaster, she held multiple leadership roles within the Tamil student community, actively combining her cultural roots with her passion for dance. This educational blend of scientific discipline and business acumen, in addition to her artistic career, informs her strategic approach to arts leadership and education.
